"Be a Parent, Not a Friend" Premieres

The Knox Substance Abuse Action Team (KSAAT) and the Teen Advisory Council (TAC)  premiered the production of “Be a Parent, Not a Friend” Wednesday, April 24 at the Woodward Opera House, Recital Hall. The meeting welcomed nearly sixty community members, parents, educators and KSAAT members.

"Be a Parent, Not a Friend" is a vision of the Teen Advisory Council (TAC). TAC students
identified alcohol abuse a problem of practice among their peers. With this knowledge they created characters and wrote a script. TAC students participated in lead roles, supporting cast as well as assisted with the production and direction of this PSA.

The event concluded a discussion about underage drinking in Knox County and parent resources to address the problem of practice.
